WP youth gets 30 years for aggravated assault/robbery

A West Point youth was sentenced to 30 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) during the first week of the Clay County Circuit Court’s October term.
Jerri Collins, 19, of Melton Bottom Road in West Point, pleaded guilty to two counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault. Collins was arrested for the 2013 crimes, after robbing two individuals at gunpoint, and shooting a third in the chest.
Collins was sentenced to 20 years in MDOC for the two armed robbery charges, and 20 years for the aggravated assault charge with 10 years suspended. He will serve a total of 30 years in MDOC, along with paying a $500 fine and all court costs. Upon release, Collins will be required to serve five years of post release supervision.
