William Stevens Lofton passed away Tuesday August 24, 2010 at West Point Community Living Center at the age of 92. He was born November 6, 1917 in Clay County to the late William Neal Lofton and Ruby Anna Stevens. He was a lifelong resident of Beasley Community and a member of Palestine Methodist Church. He was a carpenter and a farmer and worked at B&W for several years.
Funeral Services will be Thursday August 26, 2010 at 2 PM at Palestine Methodist Church with Rev. Cary Sutphin, Ben Rosenkrans, Rev. Harold Robinson, and Rev. Larry Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Michel, Hugh Moore, Scotty Wooten, Will Moore, Rodger Coleman, David Coleman, Keith Thompson, Jack Elliott. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 PM at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour before service time at the church.
He is survived by his son, Russell Lofton of Pheba; daughters, Leora Hodnett of Cedar Bluff, Rose Ann Wilson of Cedar Bluff, Deborah Watson of Pheba; Sister, Lucile Embree of West Point, 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie Lofton; brother, Andrew Lofton; sister, Edna Conner; 1 grandchild; 2 great grandchildren.
