In other 5-A playoff action, Oxford made the trip to Starkville for a hard fought battle. The Yellow Jackets were the victors after three close quarters with the Chargers, going on to win 28-7. Starkville will be the Green Wave’s opponent in the North Half Championship game November 23.
The South side of the bracket had a big shakeup. Defending 5-A champ Picayune fell to Pascagoula on the road, 27-10. Also in the South, perennial power Wayne County lost to Pearl River Central, 24-15. The South Half Championship will see Pearl River Central host Pascagoula.
The Green Wave will have to strap on their chin straps tight so they will be ready to take on Starkville. The Yellow Jackets last year put out West Point in the playoffs and will take a full effort from the Wave to win this Friday night.
