BOYS: West Point 80, Okolona 36

OKOLONA — Tre Williams was in a shooting slump and hoped to get out of it in the near future.
Against Okolona, the senior shooting guard came out firing on all cylinders, knocking down eight points in the first quarter and helping West Point jump out to a 23-8 advantage.
“I have been in a slump for a minute, so I had to come in thinking ‘shoot,’” Williams said. “My teammates got me the ball and I got some wide open looks.”
Williams finished with a game-high 20 points, and West Point (6-1) secured its third consecutive victory with a win over Okolona, 80-36, Tuesday on the campus of Okolona High School.
Tony Craddeth knocked down 17 points off the bench, and Juan Davis scored 14 points for West Point.
Zack Stevens led the Chieftains with 12 points against the Green Wave.
West Point Head Coach Brad Cox was under the weather Tuesday, giving the reins over to Assistant Coach Dewayne Jefferson to walk the sideline.
“It felt good to sit there and put the game in the stand point where I controlled a good amount of the game,” Jefferson said. “Coach Cox came back at halftime and gave me some support with what I needed to get the team to do.”
