Last week, the West Point Junior High football seventh grade team fought Noxubee County in a gritty game of defense. That game ended in a 0-0 tie.
This week, the seventh grade team was at it again, and the Thursday night home battle against Columbus turned out to be another tie ball game, ending in an 8-8 tie.
West Point fullback Dameon Lee provided the only scoring for the Green Wave in the game, beating the Falcon defenders to the end zone for a five yard touchdown rush.
Quarterback Ladarius Vance converted the two-point try, form three yards out to give West Point eight points.
Vance ended the game 3-for-5 in passing, completing tosses to Jeffrey Drake, Kaelan O’neal and Tony Rush.
Defensively the Green Wave played very well. The cornerbacks, Jaylan Shelton and Dajuan Haskins did a good job on the night.
Coaches Steve Cannon and Keith Manning wish to thank West Point head football coach Chris Chambless for supporting the seventh grade football program.
Those seventh graders will be at Tupelo, this Thursday night.
