West Point Police Department officers are investigating two aggravated assault cases following an alleged stabbing and shooting Saturday.
According to a WPPD statement to the media, E911 dispatched officers about 5:38 p.m. to a residence on Falcon Street in West Point, in response to a possible stabbing. First responders discovered a 31-year-old woman, whose name has been withheld, with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds to her upper thigh and abdomen upon arrival. The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus for treatment.
Her condition was unknown as of Tuesday.
Witness statements and evidence collected on scene led investigators to a residence on Rogers Road in north West Point, whereupon police made an arrest in connection with the incident.
Elswin Lamar Ewing — also known as “Pookie Love” — 25, of West Point, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was taken to the Clay County Detention Center and held on a $50,000 bond.
