West Point native Ford finds home at Mississippi College

Only two years removed from West Point Green Wave Basketball and Lakin Ford has found a home at Mississippi College.
A 6’5” 190 pound junior forward for the Choctaws, Ford recorded a double-double against Schreiner University. Ford scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in 35 minutes of play during the Thursday, January 3rd contest as the Choctaws went on to victory over the Mountaineers 78-60.
While at West Point High School, Ford averaged 20 points a game and averaged eight rebounds. Lakin also received all-area honors after his senior year at West Point in 2010. Ford’s talented play propelled Ford into a two-year career at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba. During his sophomore year, Lakin played in 27 games, averaging 4 points a game and 3 rebounds a game.
Thursday night’s performance was Ford’s first career double-double for the Choctaws, where he is starting to make a big impact. Ford who has started in 6 of 11 games this season, averaging 19 minutes a game and pulling down an average of 4 rebounds. Also, Ford is averaging 9 points a game.
Lakin is the son of Kenneth and Patricia Ford who reside in Cedar Bluff. Ford is currently pursuing a major in Kinesiology at Mississippi College.
