Henry Johnson, head coach of the Clarksdale Wildcats, is excited about the upcoming match-up his team has drawn in week seven of the MHSAA football season.
For the first-year Clarksdale coach, the chance to compete with the West Point Green Wave will be an excellent measuring tool for his team.
“I have a lot of respect for the West Point football program,” Johnson said. “I am looking forward to playing them and I hope our guys want to compete against the Green Wave. We have fallen behind their program and we have some catching up to do. This district game will be a good test for us to see how far or further we need to go as a team.”
West Point (2-3; 0-1) welcomes Clarksdale (2-2; 1-0) for Homecoming festivities and a District 1-5A tilt that could be a significant victory for either team during the middle of the season at 7 p.m. tonight at Hamblin Stadium in West Point.
