West Point First Presbyterian EPC Church welcomes new pastor

— Donna Summerall/Daily Times Leader Rev. Brandon Bates makes himself at home Wednesday at First Presbyterian EPC Church.Bates recently became the church’s new pastor.

Rev. Brandon Bates is leaving his hospice ministry in the Flowood/Ridgeland area and moving to West Point to pastor First Presbyterian Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). Rev. Steve Davis retired from the ministry and left the First Presbyterian Church without a pastor. Bates held the position of chaplain for PaxHospice in Ridgeland for the past two years. He has preached regularly throughout the Central South Presbytery while teaching periodically as adjunct faculty at Belhaven University. At this point, Bates still lives in Flowood and is commuting on Wednesdays and Sundays to preach in West Point.
