The West Point Green Wave entered Mississippi's Associated Press (AP) Top 10 football poll for the first time this season. The Wave (3-1), who was not ranked in the first five weeks of the season, defeated the Noxubee County Tigers 21-6 last Friday in Macon, earning the No. 10 spot. After a No. 4 ranking last week, West Point moved up to No. 3 in the MHSAA Class-5A Poll.
The ranking sets up a Top 10 matchup against the No. 8 Oxford Chargers in the Region 1-5A opener. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday in Oxford.
