The West Point Civitan Luncheon Club recognized members of the clergy who were in attendance at Wednesday’s meeting in the Education Room of North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. They were presented with a certificate of appreciation by President Margaret Shelton. Civitan members were encouraged to invite their pastors to attend the meetings in February.
“Bro. Ben Yarber is pastor at Faith Baptist Church,” said Bill Ladd, Civitan member. “His wife Gwen Yarber writes a weekly column in the Daily Times Leader. We, as a congregation, are extremely blessed to have these wonderful people at our church. They are going to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this year.”
Ladd said Yarber had been responsible for bringing vocal performances to Faith Baptist and was involved with the Christian Family Radio station in French Camp. His contributions to the church and community have served those who know them well, Ladd said.
“The Lord puts special people in our paths,” Ladd said. “We are so very thankful He saw fit to put Ben and Gwen in ours.”
