West Point battle discussed in depth at book luncheon

September 20, 2013

John W. McBryde was Thursday’s speaker at Luncheon With Books. The local author has brought history to life in his book The Battle of West Point.

“I’m totally sold that Nathan Beford Forrest was the best of all confederate generals,” said McBryde. “He should have been the head of the Confederate Cavalry. His education came from living and hunting in the woods of Mississippi. He knew how to survive and put that knowledge to work during the Civil War.”
