West Point basketball splits

The West Point High School basketball teams opened their respective seasons with a pair of 30-minute jamborees Saturday at the West Point High School gym.
The West Point Green Wave were on top of their game Saturday as they defeated Kosciusko and Tupelo by a combined score of 57-36. The Wave defeated Koscuisko in the morning game, 33-21.
Demarius Calvert scored nine points and West Point defeated Tupelo, 24-15, in the Wave’s second jamboree Saturday.
Tupelo would close a 12-point deficit with a 6-0 run with six minutes remaining, 15-9. West Point pulled away for good when Tre Williams scored a two-pointer in the paint, sparking a 10-0 run to close out the game.
