West Point and Oak Hill on the Road

September 6, 2012

This week is critical for both the West Point High Green Wave and the Oak Hill Academy Raiders as both teams go on the road tonight. Each school is looking to build, to add wins to the books, and as shown so far, West Point and Oak Hill can get it done.

With a short trip down Highway 82, West Point will be looking to move forward on the momentum they gained against Columbus last week, and Starkville High School will be waiting for them, coming off of a win against Tupelo High.

One of the keys to victory for West Point will be in their defense. It was early in last week’s game that the Green Wave found its stride and managed to almost completely stave off the Columbus onslaught, holding them again and again so that the West Point offense could gain ground.

Tonight, as is the case every week, offers a different challenge in the form of a different school. Starkville is 1-2 for the season, which means that they will be coming onto the field with the memory of victory still fresh, as well.

This evening, West Point will be looking to put one more in their win column. The Green Wave challenges the Yellow Jackets in Starkville tonight at 7:30pm, and they look forward to your support as they take the field.

Down in Yazoo City, Coach Daniel Merchant and the Oak Hill Academy Raiders intend to reestablish the momentum from their first two games. The Raiders will be playing the second of their four conference games of the season, and a win tonight is crucial.

Manchester Academy hits the field with two losses. The Mavericks’ last two outings were in the rain, so with very little chance of precipitation tonight, the Mavericks should bring their A-game, especially at home.

All this season, Oak Hill has shown a complete turnaround from last year, and should continue to make the plays that make the difference. The team has been working hard this week to get ready for the game tonight, fine tuning some of the details that were missed in last week’s game, and getting back to precision football.

Yazoo City will be the place to be tonight when the Raiders take on the Mavericks of Manchester Academy. Kickoff is at 7pm, and they team expects a big turnout.

With Hebron Academy squaring off against Clinton Christian, all three local teams have been scheduled for road games this week, which means that the games are a matter of conquest. Each team gets the opportunity to bring home a little more pride for the fans, and each team is ready to play.
