W.D. Ivey

W.D. Ivey, age 85, passed away, Sunday, June 17, 2012, at West Point Community Living Center.
W.D. Ivey was born May 11, 1927, in Clarke County, to the late Winnie Easter Sowers and
William Eugene Ivey. He was the owner and operator of W.D. Ivey's Garage in West Point for 53 years. He attended
Fellowship Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II. W.D. Ivey married Elvie Estelle Runion Ivey April 30, 1945, in Meridian. She passed away May 24, 2009.
Graveside services are Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. from Greenwood Cemetery in West Point, with the Rev. R.C. Bryan officiating.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Rhea (Bennon) of Cedar Bluff; son, Danny Ivey (Georgene) of West Point; three grandchildren: Jimmy Pointer, Bill Pointer (Michelle), and Martha Poss; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Nelda Pugh (Hal) of Cedar Bluff. In addition to his parents and his wife, those preceding him in
death were his grandson, Jason Rhea; his sister, Lois Chism; and his brother, Earl Ivey.
Pallbearers are Skeeter Smith, Billy Vest, Ronnie Ivey, Bill Ivey, Roger Ivey, Bill Pointer, Jimmy Pointer, and Eddie Jennings.
Honorary pallbearers are Friends at Fellowship Baptist Church and the Nurses and Staff of West Point Community Living Center.
Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39701.
Visitation is today, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
