Wayne Gwathney

Wayne Gwathney, age 68, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Darlington Oaks Community Hospice in Verona.
Mr. Wayne was born Jan. 27, 1946, in Shelby, the son of the late John Walter and Garvis Christine Robertson Gwathney. He was raised in Louisville. He was the owner and operator of Wayne Construction Company. He was a Baptist. He married Carolyn Trulove Gwathney Dec. 22, 1967, in West Point. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one sister: Joann Gwathney.
Funeral services will be July 7, 2014, at 2 from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Sallee officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Bluff. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Trulove Gwathney of West Point; two daughters: Dawn Gwathney Curry and Melody Gwathney both of Caledonia; one grandson, Dustin Wayne Gwathney of Caledonia; one sister, Flora Estes of West Point; and three brothers: Kenneth Gwathney (Martha Sue) of Lackey, Gene Gwathney (Carolyn) of Cedar Bluff, and Gary Gwathney of West Point.
Pallbearers are David Estes, Brad Gwathney, Anthony Gwathney, Jody Gwathney, Corey Ravenhorst, and Richard Hartwig.
Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Darlington Oaks Community Hospice, and the employees of Pryor Construction.
