The West Point High School swimming team had another good meet in the pool last Saturday, this time in Oxford including three top-ten finishes in their second meet of the season.
In all, 16 schools were represented from around the state.
âOverall, the majority of our swimmers had a faster time this meet than they did their very first meet two weeks ago,â head coach Stephen Stockton said. âI am very proud of each one of them. They have been working very hard, in-spite of the weather the past couple of weeks.â
In the girls 50-yard freestyle Kelsey Redus recorded the best time for the Green Wave, touching the wall in 28.58 seconds for a ninth place finish in her heat. Isabell Facella finished 13th for the only other top-20 finish.
Abby Scott, Jessica Farr, Marlee Melcher, Katie Wilson, Gabby Thompson, Kirstein Bishop, Sarah Johnson and Erin Bishop rounded out the rest of the swimmers for the green and white.
In the boys 50-yard freestyle, Desmone Mathews and James Chism finished in the top 90 out of 93 swimmers in their heat.
Redus again had another ninth-place finish this time in the girls 100-freestyle in 1:05.80. Isabell Facella and Abby Scott also competed.
The girls 200-Freestyle Relay team placed seventh out of 12 teams with a time of 2:20.60 seconds.
The Green Wave will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Tupelo.
