The Howlin’ Wolf Blues Society of West Point announced today the line-up, tickets and t-shirts sales/information for the 13th Annual Howlin’ Wolf Memorial Blues Festival, to be held Friday, Aug. 29, at the West Point Civic Center.

According to Richard Ramsey, Program Director of the society, the line-up for this year’s festival includes world-class and award-winning blues acts.  Ramsey states, “This year’s festival starts out with Caleb Childs, performing outside the Civic, with Ernie Southern and the Deltaholics, from Florida, taking the main stage.  They will be followed by IBC finalist Ben Prestage, with his powerful one-man-band performance.  2006 IBC Solo Duo winner, Eden Brent, will perform her No.1 rated CD, Mississippi 1.  Eden was raised in Greenville and her whiskey-grit vocals and barrel house piano playing will be certain to raise the roof off the civic this year.”
“Next up will be Willie King/Blind Mississippi Morris and The Black Prairie Blues Kings.  Anyone who has seen Willie and Morris together knows that the Howlin’ Wolf Festival would be incomplete without them paying homage to the Mighty Wolf.  When you put Willie and Morris together on stage you will actually feel the spirit of the Wolf.  The next set will include the powerful family group from Tupelo, Homemade Jamz.  Homemade Jamz was featured on Good Morning America, and has just recently signed with Piedmont Talent.  The three Perry siblings are 9, 14, and 16 years old.  They appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered, announcing the release of their new CD, Pay Me No Mind.  Anyone that caught last year’s performance of Homemade Jamz will know that they will have you standing in your seats before the night is over,” said Ramsey.
Closing the show out will be the Billy Gibson Band, from Memphis, Tenn.
“Billy is considered the King of Beale Street, with his high-energy harmonica performances,” Ramsey said.  “He has just returned back from the Bluzapalooza tour, performing for our troops in Iraq.  The line up this year is the best-of-the-best that blues has to offer.”
Tickets and T-shirts will be available online at http://www.wpnet.org/Howlin_Festival.htm or can be picked up at the Growth Alliance, Bits N Pieces and Chef David’s BBQ in West Point.  Tickets only can also be purchased at DC Music in Columbus, and Jack Forbus Insurance in Starkville.  Tickets are $15 advance or $20 at the door.  Gates open at 4 p.m.  Small coolers are allowed.  “We have already sent out tickets and t-shirts all over the US and Europe,” Said Ramsey.  “Be there and HOWL with the WOLF!”
