The Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on the emergency project for Billy White Road residents to get water Tuesday morning.

There are six households on Billy White Road without water. On April 14, the Health Department deemed it an emergency situation because of bacteria found in the existing wells.
The purpose of the public hearing was one the steps required by the State before the Supervisors could proceed with the application for consideration.
Patsy Patterson, with Golden Triangle Planning and Development, explained to interested citizens, who showed up at the public hearing, the Board of Supervisors is not responsible for any additional money the project might cost.
"Sun Creek Water Association will be responsible for any runovers in money," said Patterson.
Paul Crowley with Sun Creek Water Association asked Patterson about a time frame for the project.
"When will these people get water," asked Crowley.
Patterson said that once the preliminary is finished it shouldn't be a long turnaround, sometime around summer.
According to Patterson since the finding of bacteria is considered an emergency it would possibly have to be completed in a certain time, such as six months to complete.
The Billy White Road project will cost approximately $100,000 according to Calvert Engineers who estimated the project cost.
Floyd McKee, District 5 supervisor assured the people present that Calvert had said it should not  go over the $100,000.
Patterson reminded the citizens the public meeting did not guarantee funding, but in fact just starts the process.
Clay County supervisors, Suncreek Water Association and Calvert will be working together to insure everything is legal.
