Local obituaries La Shawn Dewayne McFarland
La Shawn Dewayne McFarland, 36, died Monday, May 5, 2008. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 10, 2008, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Eddie Longstreet will officiate.
Visitation is today May 9, 2008, at the Carter’s Mortuary Services Chapel from 3-6 p.m.
Carter’s Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeane Valerie Phillips Murch
BERMUDA DUNES, Calif.- Mrs. Jeane Valerie Phillips Murch, 77, died April 28, 2008, at Eisenhower Hospital, Palm Desert, Calif.  She was born in West Point to the late Ona Parker Phillips and Val H. Phillips. Sister, Nona Reath Phillips, also predeceased her.
Services will be scheduled at a later date with a celebration of life reception at New Port Beach, Calif.  
Survivors include husband, Keith R. Murch of Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; step-mother, Gussie Hampton Phillips of West Point: two sisters: Ann P. Miller (C.M.) of West Point, Ona P. Pike (Rifton) of Millstad, Ill.; and her nephew,  C.M. “Mickey” Miller Jr.


James Earl Collins
James Earl Collins, 75, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Columbus. Funeral services are today, May 11, 2008, at the West Point Civic Center at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Strong Hill Cemtery. Elder Steve Jamison will officiate.
   Carter’s Mortuary Services are in charge of the arrangements.

Mandy Emma Webber
  Mandy Emma Webber, 84, died May 1, 2008, at North Mississipi Medical Center-West Point. Funeral services were Saturday May, 10, 2008, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, McCondy. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeffery McMullen officiated.
   Williams Memorial Funeral Home of Okolona was in charge of the arrangements.
