Pilot Club attends District Convention

Members of the Pilot Club of West Point joined more than 100 Pilot members from Mississippi at the MS District, Pilot International 20th Annual Convention held at the Summit Hotel and Summit Center in Tupelo on April 18-20.

Governor Beth Riley, Pilot Club of Mantachie, presided during the weekend.The theme for the weekend was “Celebrating 20 Years of Mississippi Pilot Spirit.” Attendees took part in informative workshops, officer training sessions, election of district officers and conducting district business. Linda Covington, Pilot International Secretary, from Asheboro, N.C. attended as the Executive Committee Representative for the MS District. Deborah Tierce, Tierce Motivational Training, presented a very informative workshop on Saturday afternoon. A special fundraiser for the Pilot International Foundation was held on Friday night. The Pilot Clubs of Holly Springs and New Albany served as hosts for the successful weekend of training, entertainment, and fellowship.The 2008-2009 District Officers are: Governor Debra Cole from West Point; Governor-elect Stacey Chapman, Houston; Lt. Governor Millie Wood, Mantachie; Treasurer Judy Ashmore, West Point; and Secretary Sherry Acker, West Point. They will serve from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.
Founded in 1921, Pilot International is a human service organization of volunteers working together to improve the quality of life in communities throughout the world. The organization’s service focus is helping persons with brain-related disorders and disabilities through education, volunteerism, and financial support. The Pilot International Foundation awards thousands of dollars annually in grants and scholarships to further education, research, and programs that benefit those affected by neurological diseases and injuries to the brain.
