Breland shares historical dolls
Friday, 11 December 2009

Image

The Horseshoe Robertson Chapter NSDAR had a rare treat Dec. 9 when Breland shared her extensive collection of dolls at their meeting.

Breland gave a short presentation of her “Dolls of North America” imparting some little-known information, such as there were no dolls manufactured in the United States until after 1860. Dolls before that time were imported from Europe. Her collection includes presidents, First Ladies and other dolls of different periods. Breland has loved dolls since she was a small child and her collection reflects that passion. She is displaying a porcelain doll head which dates back to 1920. Breland is an accomplished seamstress and she made many of her doll's outfits. She has been a member of the Horseshoe Robertson Chapter of the NSDAR for 33 years.
