Canton knew it would take nothing short of a miracle to defeat a West Point football team who was on a 10-game win streak and at the top of their game.

That miracle never came Friday night as the Green Wave crushed the Tigers 36-0.

West Point running back Jacoby Lee went into Friday night's game with five rushing touchdowns on the season.

Lee nearly matched that total by scoring four touchdowns while rushing for 139 yards on 15 carries.  Lee scored twice from three yards out, 25 and 33.

"I planned on running hard, strong with vision," Lee said.  "I have to thank my lineman and (the) fullback."

Lee's fullback, LaKenderic Thomas, didn't just clear the way for runners.  He got in on the action.  Thomas punished Tigers' defenders for 127 yards and a touchdown on 17 attempts.

Opposing team's, nonetheless, still haven't seen what Thomas is capable of, West Point coach Chris Chambless said.

"(Thomas) is a such a strong runner between the tackles," he said.  "We hadn't really gotten a chance to see him in the open field yet because he's been playing fullback.

With the Tigers defense clearly focusing on West Point's Michael Carr, it allowed the Green Wave's running attack to get to business.  West Point's three feature backs (Lee, Thomas and Xavier Hogan) combined for 321 rushing yards.  Although they all did their part, the night belonged to Lee.

"Jacoby has been running the ball hard every week," Chambless said.  "It just seems like he gets stronger and stronger every game.  He was a little easier to tackle earlier in the year than he is now.  Instead of breaking the first tackle, now he's breaking the first and second tackle."

Lee's first score came late in the first quarter when he broke three tackles to scamper into the endzone from 25 yards out.

Lee scored his second touchdown in the second quarter when he closed out a 11-play, 88-yard drive with a 3-yard touchdown run.  The touchdown gave the Green Wave a 14-0 halftime lead.

After the third quarter began with both team's exchanging interceptions, West Point put the ball back into the hands of it's money players - Hogan, Lee and Thomas.

Thomas capped off a 13-play, 86-yard drive with 18-yard scamper.  Gary Hughes ran in a mishandled snap to score the two-point conversion.

With a 22-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter, West Point kept its starters on the field to ensure a victory.  The only player they would need, however, would be Lee.  Lee scored his last two touchdowns in the final period.  His first score was a hard 3-yard run.  His next touchdown came on a shifty 30-yard scamper.

The 36-0 victory marked the Green Wave's 11th straight win and their third shutout in the last five games.  Chambless said his team got upset last week when the defense starter's were removed from the game in their 37-7 win over Hernando.  Hernando scored on it's final drive dismiss a West Point shutout victory.

That won't be happening in coming weeks, Chambless said.

"They wanted to avenge their shutout they didn't get last week," Chambless said.  "They sort of got upset at me (last week)."  "It's the playoffs now and we have to play four quarters.  So, expect to see (the starters) in there for all four quarters."

West Point's defense held the Tigers to 121 total yards.  Justin Bobo led the Green Wave with eight tackles.  Curtis Virges added six tackles and two sacks.  Gary Hughes had two interceptions.

"We just came out and executed our gameplan like coach (Chambless) wanted us to," Bobo said.  "We prepared well through the week and stayed focused."

Chambless said his team came into the game with a plan to stop Tigers running back Jacorey Ousley, who ran for 213 yards last week against Lanier.

"(Ousley) got (the Clarion Ledger) player of the week last week and our goal was to hold him under a 100 yards," Chambless said.

Canton ran for a total of 14 rushing yards.

Next up for the Green Wave will be Pearl, who defeated Oxford 28-14 to advance.  West Point will host the Pirates Friday night.
