Vinita Bigham Tollison Oswalt

Vinita Bigham Tollison Oswalt, 86, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at the Golden Living Center - Eupora.
She was born May 16, 1923, in Tippah County, to Norman E. and Ethel Bigham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, James D. Tollison and Harford Oswalt; three sons: James R. Tollison, Dewey R. Tollison, and Stanley Tollison; one sister, Lydia Reed; and one brother, Ralph Bigham.
She is survived by one son, David Tollison (Sue) of West Point; two stepdaughters: Dorothy Holland  (Bill) of Maben, Diane Boon of Blacksburg, Va.; two stepsons: Douglas Oswalt  (Lesa) of Mathiston;  Larry Oswalt  (Cathy) of Maben; one sister, Evie Ulmer of West Point; one brother, Emmet Bigham  (Peggy) of Pheba; 18 grandchildren; 23 great - grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held  Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Mathiston, where she was a member, and burial was at the Spring Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Webster County. The Rev. Wade Stevens
officiated. The Pallbearers were: Rex Williams, Shannon Reid, Sonny Bigham, Danny Tollison, Greg Tollison, and Scott Tollison.
She was an accomplished oil painting artist.  She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, Mathiston Chapter No. 130.  She was the first elected woman to the Mathiston Board of Alderman in July of 1974.  She was a retired nurse.  
Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of all arrangements.
