Jakes roll at USSSA World Series
From Staff Reports

SOUTHAVEN - The Mossy Oak Jakes put in a good day's work Friday at the USSSA World Series in Southaven, dispatching a pair of Tennessee teams to remain unbeaten at 3-0. First was the West Tennessee Titans of Jackson, Tenn., who fell 9-4 to the Jakes.
Riley Self earned the offensive game ball with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Thomas "T.D." Dillard was right behind Self with a 3-for-3 day and two RBIs.
Heath Ford, Zack Carter, Denver McCrary, Caleb Roberson, A.J. Brown and Ian Hawkins all had hits, as well.
Hawkins started the game on the mound for the Jakes and struck out three before Carter came in for the save, striking out four Titans.
The Jakes' second game of the day saw them take on last year's East Tennessee state champs in Sliders Baseball out of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
Jeffrey Drake, Chance Wilson, Carter and Self each had a pair of hits. Caleb Darnell, Ford and McCrary had a hit apiece.
Dillard had a big game on the mound, striking out eight Sliders.
"He was bringing it pretty good," said Jakes assistant coach Chris Wilson of Dillard.
The defensive game balls went to Brown and Wilson for the second game.
Championship play begins Saturday in Southaven and the Jakes won't know who their opponents are until Saturday morning.
