Thursday brought with it United Way’s Campaign Kickoff Luncheon celebrating its 30 years of operations, and welcomed local best-selling author and Mossy Oak Biologic President Bobby Cole as the guest speaker.
Since its inception in 1983, United Way of Clay County has strived to fund, through public donations, health and human organizations. After a collective of civic-minded residents felt it desirable to expand the local Community Chest into a more expansive organization, the train truly began.
Familiar names and faces spot United Way’s history. Thirty years later, the organization is still trucking along, and its first director, Kitty Dill, played a crucial role in progressing the group to where it stands today.
“Anyone who knew Kitty knows what her determination meant to our community,” said current UW Director Stacy Hays.
