The West Point Green Wave boys hoops team (9-8; 2-0) has to feel good going into the final four district games of the season.
After falling in three consecutive games, with the defense giving up a ton of points, the West Point squad shocked the Oxford Chargers on Friday night with a dominating win.
Tonight, the Green Wave will try to improve on a 2-0 district record, when they travel to New Hope to take on the Trojans, who are hovering right around the .500 mark themselves.
The Trojans are still looking for a top spot in the district tournament coming up soon, but they have been struggling of late, losing six of seven before their game with Saltillo last week.
The Green Wave were 8-5, before falling twice at the Aberdeen Tourney and coming out sluggish against Starkville last Tuesday.
On Friday, however, the Green Wave proved that they could play with the best in the district, defeating an Oxford team that had come in with a 2-0 record of its own in division play.
The Green Wave will be wrapping up the season over the next couple of weeks, with the most important games to come.
On Friday, West Point will play host to Saltillo, a team the Green Wave defeated back on December 17 at their house.
New Hope will come to West Point the following Tuesday to settle the season series, and there will be a non-district match at Noxubee that Friday. The Green Wave still have to make up a district game with Oxford, at their place before the district tournament.
