Tough challenge ahead for West Point

January 17, 2013

Though the Tuesday night double-header against district-mate Oxford was canceled due to inclement weather, the West Point Lady Wave and Green Wave will finally return to the basketball court tonight. West Point will host the district-leading New Hope Lady Trojans and Trojans tonight and will look to put a blemish on the New Hope district records.
It has been a while since West Point has had a ballgame as the Lady Wave’s most recent game was last Friday January 11 against Okolona. Though the Lady Wave have not played in a week, West Point looks to be sharp and ready to keep their district record perfect and knock off the leading Lady Trojans of New Hope. Currently, the Lady Trojans are 2-0 in district while the Lady Wave hold a 1-0 district record.
Following the Lady Wave’s game tonight, the Green Wave will take the court looking to rebound in the district. It will be a difficult challenge as West Point will host district rival New Hope. The Trojans are currently undefeated and have played very strong basketball in the past couple of games. The Wave will need to play a near-perfect game if West Point wants to put a “W” into the district 2 5-A win column.
The action at the West Point High School gym is set to start with the junior varsity Lady Wave basketball tipping-off around four o’clock. After junior varsity action is complete, the Lady Wave will take the floor against New Hope set to begin around six o’clock following the junior varsity boy’s game.
