Tommie Otis Henry Darsey, age 91, of Natchez, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, in West Point.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home of Natchez.
Mrs. Darsey, the eldest of ten children, was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Mathiston. She was the daughter of Hearon Otis Henry and Sylbia Jean Cherry Henry. She graduated from Mathiston High School, in 1940. Mrs. Darsey worked for Sears and Roebuck for 25 years. She retired February, 1985. While employed with Sears, she made many friends and continued the friendships into her retirement years.
She is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin Jerome Darsey; two brothers: Owenton Henry and Tim Henry; and one son-in-law, James “Buck” Beach.
Mrs. Darsey is survived by one son, Robert Allen Darsey (Mary Lou) of West Point; two daughters: Tommie Fay Beach of Brandon, and Ruby Lee Porter (Randy) of Brookhaven;
five grandchildren: Chris Porter (Stephanie) and Stephanie Verucchi (Kenneth), Michelle Burgess (Nathan) all of Brookhaven, Ben Darsey (Shonda), and Janna Murray (Brandt) both of West Point; 12 great-grandchildren: Seth Porter, Julianna Porter, Mackenzie Porter, Vivi Claire Porter, Katherine Verucchi, Rylee Verucchi, Landon Porter, Peyton Burgess, Ethan Burgerss, Levin Darsey, Mary Lynnon Darsey, Kolt Darsey; and two step-grandchildren: Trevor Murray and Taylor Murray; four sisters: Wiliene Harper, Mary Mclain, Maudie Young (Gailon) of West Point, and Annice Breland (Doyce) of Mathiston; sister-in-law, Dot Henry of Mathiston; three brothers: Rudy Henry (Opal), Burl Henry (Betty) both of West Point, and Glenn Henry of Natchez.
