Three injured in weekend stabbing

Three people were injured and one man arrested after a stabbing incident in West Point early Sunday morning.
Edward Cox, 41, of West Point, was arrested and charged with two counts of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault and one county of Aggravated Assault after allegedly stabbing three people – including his son – following a domestic dispute early Sunday morning on Glendale Drive.
At approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday, officers with the West Point Police Department responded to a disturbance call at 611 Glendale Drive, which is located just off Highway 45-A in West Point.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that Cox had allegedly attacked Joshlyn Blair, 37, and Jaimarkuz Cox, 20, at their home on Glendale Drive. Cox had also allegedly attacked Cheryl Jackson, 48, of 912 N. Eshman Avenue, who was visiting Blair at the time of the incident.
According to reports from the West Point Police Department, Cox allegedly stabbed Blair and Cox several times with a knife, and he also cut Jackson near the throat with the knife. Cox then fled the area before officers arrived on the scene.
All of the stabbing victims were transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center -West Point to receive treatment for their injuries. Blair was then transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment, and her condition was unavailable at press time.
Officers with the WPPD, Clay County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshal's Service began to look for Cox immediately after the incident, and the suspect was apprehended at 5:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the Huddle House restaurant in West Point. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Cox was taken to the Clay County Jail and charged with two counts of Domestic Violence Aggravated Assault and one count of Aggravated Assault. His initial court appearance is set for today at 2 p.m. in the West Point Municipal Court. Details of the investigation are still pending at this time.
