Thomas, Nevins Exchange Vows

Katharine Geonette Thomas and Reid Addison Nevins were united in marriage Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in West Point, Miss. The 2 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Jeffery Shannon and Minister Tim Wilson.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lamar Thomas of West Point, Miss. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Hollis M. Pendley of West Point, Miss., and the late Mr. Hollis M. Pendley, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo C. Thomas.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry W. Nevins of Hamilton, Miss. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Atkins and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alton Nevins.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her father who gave his blessing to the marriage. Attending the bride as Matron of Honor was her sister, Cynthia Lynn Thomas Dannan of Las Vegas, Nev., Serving as bridesmaids were Sarah Garner Avery of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Brandy Lee Nevins of Aberdeen, Miss. The flower girl was Madison Lee Nevins of Aberdeen, Miss.
The groom's brother, Lance Gregory Nevins of Aberdeen, Miss., served as Best Man. Serving as groomsmen were Jerry Wayne Nevins of Aberdeen, Miss., and Brian Neal Atkins of Hamilton, Miss. Ushers were Alan Dion Atkins of Hamilton, Miss., Austin Clay Atkins of Hamilton, Miss., Matthew Edward Dannan of Las Vegas, Nev., and James Randle Nevins of Aberdeen, Miss.
Music selections were presented by Mrs. Polly Hunter Grimes of Aberdeen, Miss., and Mrs. Judy Murphy Staggers of West Point, Miss.
Mrs. Lauran Strickland Ellis of Houston, Miss., served as wedding director.
The bride wore a white satin strapless gown. The A-line gown featured a side split with tulle insert, beading and Swarovski crystal detail at the waist and a button back. Her shoulder-length veil fell from a Swarovski head-piece and featured Swarovski snowflake crystals. She carried a bouquet of red roses and a handkerchief that belonged to her grandmother, Mrs. Hollis M. Pendley. She wore an Irish silver and diamond cross necklace and earrings belonging to her sister.
The Matron of Honor and Bridesmaids wore dresses of apple red satin. Their dresses were styled with an X-neckline, intricate beading at the waist and pleated long skirt. They carried bouquets of white roses.
The reception followed the ceremony at The Ritz in downtown West Point.
Following a winter honeymoon to North Carolina, the couple makes their home in Hamilton, Miss.
