Susan L. McFarland, age 91, of Bay Springs, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services are Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. from Bay Springs Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Bay Springs City Cemetery.
Mrs. McFarland is remembered by her family as being wholly dedicated to her family and to her church. At age 5, she gave her first violin concert. In her adult life, she was a member of the Bay Springs Music Lovers Club, an avid tennis player, and an active member of the women’s group at the Bay Springs Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. McFarland is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Lucy Hart Schofield; husband, Judge Robert Harrison McFarland; daughters, Susan Ann McFarland and Bobby Jo Gower; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Wilkerson and brother, Thomas Nathan Schofield.
Survivors include her daughter, Anna Hart Hazard, of Memphis, Tenn.; son, Burns Harrison McFarland of Jackson; five grandchildren: Hart Hazard Kiser, Mark Gordon Hazard, Anna Ryan McFarland, Robert Harrison McFarland, and Harrison Robert Brooks McFarland; and three great-grandchildren: Stevens Treadwell Kiser, Michael Haynes Kiser and Avery Hart Hazard.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Gordon Hazard, Robert McFarland, Michael Kiser, Kenneth Ricketson, Ricky Ruffin, and Tommy Schofield. Curtis Barr Alexander and Jack Aycock will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial donations may be made to Bay Springs Presbyterian Church.
Visitation is tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, which is in charge of arrangements.
