A new fragment of land is soon to be under Clay Countyâ€™s defined property per an agreement with B. Bryan Farms of West Point.
The request for the land swap is the product of a redesign as it pertains to the construction of Yokohama Boulevard.
Bob Marshall, board attorney, said the initial design of the additional arm of road, which will intersect Barton Ferry Road, utilized a â€ścurve design.â€ť However, the redesign will scrap the curve element and replace it with a â€śT intersection.â€ť
Robert Calvert, Calvert-Spradling Engineers president, said the revamping serves to resolve a conflict between road construction and an existing utility. According to Calvert, the utility was an impediment to the construction.
To accomplish this redesign, a parcel of land under B. Bryans Farmsâ€™ territory â€” 0.752 acres â€” is to be transferred to Clay Countyâ€™s ownership in exchange for 0.589 county acres, along with an additional 0.046 acres currently owned by the Clay County Economic Development District.
Bryan Farms was on board with the exchange under the condition that it would acquire the approximately 0.635 gross acreage provided by the county.
The motion, initiated by District 3 Supervisor R.B. Davis and seconded by District 1 Supervisor Lynn Horton, was passed.
However, that wasnâ€™t the only discussion regarding Yokohama Boulevard.
Calvert requested that the board approve the relocation of an existing gas line easement, which allows a parcel of land owned by the county to be used by a non-specific entity, currently utilized by Petro Harvester.
