The Clay County Board of Supervisors convened Monday to discuss, among other things, a rewording in the proposed RV ordinance.
Following the beginning prayer by District 4 Supervisor Shelton Deanes, the board went straight to business.
The board passed the rewording of a specific subsection in the much-discussed RV ordinance regarding preliminary plans for fire protection. As stated in Article 3 subsection K: “Fire hydrants shall be installed throughout the RV Park in accordance with state statues.” The discussion about the wording stems from the Sept. 26 meeting in which a citizen expressed a concern about the proper installation of a fire hydrant, more specifically possible consequences that would arise from improper handling of the hydrant.
“You’ve got some of these young (firefighters) that haven’t been (thoroughly) trained,” said Deanes. “This could backfire.”
