Super Charged - Electrifying offense leads West Point past Oxford 31-21

October 29, 2011

It was quite a flashback in time, but the West Point High School football team did take a trip to the 80’s Friday night.

The Wave used a trio of 80-yard rushing plays, two by QB DeQuinton Spraggins, one by tailback Tez Lane, to earn a 31-21 win over the homestanding Oxford Chargers.

Spraggins broke loose and rushed for 221 yards on 11 carries, which
included an 82-yard touchdown run and an 87-yard sprint to set up another score.

Not to be outdone, junior tailback Tez Lane added his own 88-yard score, as West Point used a barrage of big plays to overcome an early 7-0 deficit and earn its 11th straight victory over Oxford.

“Big plays. Our offense came through with big plays when we needed them,” said West Point head coach Chris Chambless. “And our defense came through with some big plays as well. We had to have this game tonight, and our players responded.”
