It was quite a flashback in time, but the West Point High School football team did take a trip to the 80â€™s Friday night.
The Wave used a trio of 80-yard rushing plays, two by QB DeQuinton Spraggins, one by tailback Tez Lane, to earn a 31-21 win over the homestanding Oxford Chargers.
Spraggins broke loose and rushed for 221 yards on 11 carries, which
included an 82-yard touchdown run and an 87-yard sprint to set up another score.
Not to be outdone, junior tailback Tez Lane added his own 88-yard score, as West Point used a barrage of big plays to overcome an early 7-0 deficit and earn its 11th straight victory over Oxford.
â€śBig plays. Our offense came through with big plays when we needed them,â€ť said West Point head coach Chris Chambless. â€śAnd our defense came through with some big plays as well. We had to have this game tonight, and our players responded.â€ť
