Summerall: Old soldiers

My dad was one of those lucky few who went into the military to serve his country during a slow period. By that I mean he went into the Air Force after the Korean War and before the Vietnam War. None were complementary to the men who burned their draft cards or ran away to Canada. I can still remember how angry he was when President Ford pardoned the “draft dodgers.” His feelings toward “Hanoi” Jane Fonda were worse. Much worse.
