My dad was one of those lucky few who went into the military to serve his country during a slow period. By that I mean he went into the Air Force after the Korean War and before the Vietnam War. It didnâ€™t make him any less patriotic, I just think it made him less likely to die. He had his opinions on the war in Vietnam. None were complementary to the men who burned their draft cards or ran away to Canada. I can still remember how angry he was when President Ford pardoned the â€śdraft dodgers.â€ť His feelings toward â€śHanoiâ€ť Jane Fonda were worse. Much worse.
