Stephenson takes resume to North-South Game

Out of all of the football players in the state of Mississippi, only a few are chosen to represent their schools in the Bernard Blackwell North-South game, which will be played on Saturday in Ocean Springs.
West Point native Zach Stephenson will be the lone representative for Smithville High School when the game starts at noon on Saturday.
The 6-foot-6, 280 pound offensive lineman sports a large athletic and academic resume coming into the game.
The Smithville football captain was a Beta Club Scholar this year, off the field. On the field, he earned accolades in the Super 22, Division 1-1A Team in each of the last two seasons
In 2009, he was chosen as All-State First Team on the offensive line. Also that year, he was named Offensive Lineman of the Year for Smithville High School. He was also on the Daily Journal’s All-Area Second Team.
Stephenson is also an accomplished baseball and hoops player, getting named to the 2010 All Division 1-1A First Team in baseball, and he received the 2010 Smithville High School Seminole Award.
In basketball, he received the 2010 Smithville High School Coaches Award in 2009.
He is the son of Laurie and Chris Stephenson. His grandmother is Doni Lucius, and his great grandmother is Wilma Wright, both from Clay County.
