Several of the state's top amateur players will once again tackle Old Waverly Golf Course Wednesday eying a spot in the Southern Golf Association Southern Amateur championship next month in Palm Harbor, Florida.
The 24-man field has players from all-across the region including Texas, Alabama and Georgia. The top three leaders after the one day event will qualify for the championship.
Some of the top Mississippi players include Mississippi State golfer Alex Rowland (Houston), who just weeks ago, lost in a playoff to Bulldog head golf coach Clay Homan at the Mississippi State Amateur championship at Old Waverly.
Ole Miss senior Billy Brozovich (Greenville), who led the first round of the Amateur championship after shooting a 68, will also be vying for a place at the Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club July 13-16.
Other Mississippi players include, Clay BoundsÂ (Meridian), Chad RameyÂ (Fulton), Chad BoundsÂ (Meridian) and Corbin May (Saltillo). The first tee time is 8:00.View more articles in:
