Senior Lady Eagles to play final regular seaosn game

September 22, 2010

For 14 of the girls listed on the Hebron Christian Eagles softball roster this season, there will be at least one more year of high school fast pitch.
For seven girls, one third of the entire team, tomorrow night’s game against Winston will be their final regular season match. The upcoming playoffs will give them a reprieve, but eventually, these seven girls will play their last out for Hebron.
Magen Tapley, Cathryn Moore, Hillary Arnold, Dakota Hillhouse, Prysilla Skelton, Brittany Ousley and Jessica Flemming were honored during last Friday night’s football half time for their time spent with the Lady Eagle program.
“Most of them have been a staple on the ball team since sixth grade,” said Hebron head coach Cass Tapley. “You kind of get used to that. Replacing them next year is going to be tough.”
Tapley says that Magen Tapley and Moore played a pivotal role in their district win against Kemper last week.
About all of his seniors, Tapley said simply, “they’re going to be tough to replace.”
Tapley said that losing a third of his team is going to make for a rough road, offensive wise next year, but he sees bright things for the future of Hebron softball.
“We actually have a lot of young players who are really good,” Tapley said. “Our infield is going to be really good.”
While he will have to see how his revamped squad does offensively, Tapley is positive about the team’s future.
Catch the seven Lady Eagles in their final regular season match against Winston, tomorrow night at 4 p.m.
The team will begin post-season play on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., against Delta Academy, in Cleveland.
