The West Point Board of Selectmen will hold its regular meeting at 5:30 Tuesday in the upstairs conference room of City Hall.
One of the items on the agenda will be approval for the city’s 2014 fiscal year municipal compliance questionnaire. West Point Chief Administrative Officer Randy Jones said city has to complete the questionnaire every year for the city’s municipal audit.
“We fill out the questionnaire for the auditors, in this case Watkins, Ward and Stafford, PLLC, and they see if what we answered follows what the audit shows,” Jones said. “The purpose is to see if there’s anything in our audit that’s misleading.”
Jones said the accounting agency audits all of the city’s revenue and expenses. He said smooth audits can take two weeks or less, but he’s seen them take as long as two months, and it depends on how many items need to be corrected.
“Even after they’ve came in and audited us, it takes a while to get the final reports,” Jones said. “ They have findings and recommendations we have to respond to, then they compile your responses into the report and it may be two or three months before they have the final audit ready.”
