In order to represent the people effectively, their input, questions and opinions are key. Ward 2 Selectman William Binder said he recognized this, and in that felt it appropriate to hold a constituents forum, as it were, 9 a.m. March 22 upstairs at City Hall to keep individuals in the loop of city affairs.
“I just wanted to keep my Ward 2 constituents informed on what takes place and some things we (West Point selectmen) have done,” Binder said.
The West Point Board of Selectmen and Mayor hold a regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Binder, who has served Ward 2 for about seven months, said he wanted to essentially expand that into a public forum for Ward 2 citizens, who are unable to attend the monthly meeting.
Binder said the meeting will last for about an hour and a half, complemented by a hot breakfast at the beginning.
“I want to give (Ward 2 constituents) an opportunity to come out,” Binder said. “It gives the people in my ward an update on what’s going on and keeps them informed. ... I like to communicate with people and let them know what we’re doing.”
