Safety first at elementary schools

January 6, 2013

Construction is going well at both Church Hill and South Side Elementary Schools. New safety precautions are being implemented to assure the identity of visitors before having access to classrooms or children. New entrances are being built so that anyone entering the building will have to come through the office and present identification. Intercoms are posted outside the doors and the public will have to be buzzed in to gain access to the schools. In the aftermath of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut, area schools are beefing up security measures to keep all students safe. Photos by Donna Summerall
