Russell Charles Hazzard

Russell Charles Hazzard, age 96, passed away Tuesday Aug. 5, 2014, at NMMC-West Point. He was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Webster County to the late Charlie and Elizabeth Taylor Hazzard. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church in Leland for 50 years until moving to Clay County in 2005 and joined New Montpelier Baptist Church.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Webster County with Rev. Jerry King officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 1 - 2 p.m. at the church.
Serving as pallbearers are John William Hazzard, Rusty Hazzard, Peter Hazzard, John Allen Hazzard, Richard Fedrick, Tony Tharp. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Hazzard.
He is survived by his three sons: Charlie Joe Hazzard (Faye) of Aberdeen, John Allen Hazzard (Linda) of Cedar Bluff, Mark Wayne Hazzard (Jobyna) of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great - grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna Mae Hazzard; son, William Russell Hazzard; daughter, Ginger Faye Fedrick; three brothers and four sisters.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
