Russell Carl Bird Sr., age 70, of West Point, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Waverly Care Home in West Point, Miss
He was born on July 24, 1940, to the late William H. Bird and Irma Berry Bird. Mr. Bird was a retired Receiving Clerk at Bryan Brothers Foods and Animal Control Officer for West Point. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Funeral services are Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at West End Baptist Church in West Point with Rev. Jerome Key and Rev. Mike Mathena officiating. Burial will follow at West Point Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 – 8 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Robinson Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Carl Middleton, Jerry Burns, Rex Pumphrey, Lamar Wilburn, Jeff Misenholder, and Curtis Middleton.
Honorary pallbearers are the Men’s II Sunday School class and Deacons of West End Baptist Church.
Mr. Bird is survived by his wife, Regina Bird; two sons: Rusty Bird of Monette, Ark., and Ryan Bird of Belmont, Miss.; two daughters: Patricia Hipps of Petal, Miss., and Paula Bryan of West Point, Miss.; a brother, Paul Bird of West Point, Miss.; and five grandchildren: Zac Bryan, Colby Hipps, Callyn Bird, Carlee Bird and Tallie Bird.
Donations may be made to West End Baptist Church, P.O. Box 388 West Point, Ms. 39773.
Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
