Robert F. Cockrell

Robert F. Cockrell, age 87, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. Robert Franklin Cockrell was born October 4, 1925, in Clay County, to the late Fannie Turnage and Frank Cockrell. He retired from Weyerhaeuser of Jackson in 1986. Robert F. Cockrell was a member of Presbyterian faith. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy Hospital as a Corpsman having served during WW II. Robert F. Cockrell married Bonnie Tisdale Cockrell September 10, 1948, in Starkville.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. Leem Gordon officiating. Burial followed in Cairo Cemetery Cairo Community. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Tisdale Cockrell of Cedar Bluff, two sons, Allen C. Cockrell of Orange, Texas, Roger K. Cockrell (Anna Lisa Jabour) of Falls Church, Va., one granddaughter, Melissa Maree Cockrell of Falls Church, Va., and a number of nieces and nephews. Those preceding Robert F. Cockrell in death were his son Robert Larry Cockrell, four sisters, Catherine C. Fitzgerald, Sara C. Hardin, Mary Frances Cockrell and Ruby C. McGee.
Pallbearers were David Fitzgerald, Scott Harden, Lon Smith, Wally Magee, Pete O’shea, and Marvin Turnipseed.
