Robert “Bob” Cooper

Robert “Bob” Cooper, age 75, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of West Point, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. He was born Feb. 20, 1935, to the late George and Cecilia Gosselin Cooper.
Mr. Cooper joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer after more than 26 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam Conflicts. Besides the U.S. Navy, he enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, playing cards and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, William “Pop” Schaeffer and a sister, Corinne.
Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Ann Awtrey Cooper; two daughters: Patricia Cooper (Monte) Rector of Fairview, Texas, and Carol Cooper (Mike) Smith of Newark, Ohio; six grandchildren: Laura, Matthew, and Robert “Bobby” Rector, and Benjamin, Samuel, and Jackson Smith.
Graveside services were Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Military Honors.
