On the road again - West Point (4-1) heads to Oxford for crucial district battle

October 27, 2011

With just two games remaining in the 2011 regular season, the West Point High School football team finds itself in an unfamiliar position; trying to rebound from a division loss.

For the first time in three seasons, the Green Wave dropped a Division 1-5A contest last Friday night in a 30-29 heartbreaker at Center Hill.

Despite the loss, head coach Chris Chambless and his Wave have moved forward, insisting that all of their goals are still within reach.

“It hurt, but ultimately, it’s one game,” said Chambless. “One game doesn’t define who you are as a team or as a player, so you have to work hard and get things fixed. I’ve liked what I’ve seen in practice this week.”

Kickoff in Oxford is set for 7 p.m.
