Richard P. Megee

Richard P. Megee, age 45, passed away, Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the Canon Hospice House in Gulfport.
Richard P. Megee was born Nov. 18, 1964, in Bad Axe, Mich., to the late Joyce A. Austin Megee and Joe A. Megee. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Megee had worked at Wiener World at Bryan Foods-West Point until 1995, moving to Gulfport where he worked as a slot auditor for the Grand Casino in Biloxi. He was an avid hockey fan and was especially a big fan of the Red Wings Hockey team. He loved playing PS3 for hours on end. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1983 until 1986. Richard Patrick Megee married Karen Renee Turnage Megee on June 18, 1986, in Collins, Mississippi.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro.Scott Griffin officiating. Military burial honors to follow in Palestine Cemetery near Montpelier. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Karen Renee Turnage Megee of Gulfport; one son, Kevin Dewayne Megee of Gulfport; father and mother-in-law: Wesley and Joyce Turnage of Cedar Bluff; uncle, Bruce Austin (Millie) of Sterling Heights, Mich.; aunt, Monteen Conn of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; and several cousins. Mr. Megee is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: James M. and Annie S. Megee; and maternal grandparents: James Austin and Loretta Cyr.
Pallbearers were Kevin Megee, Anthony Cummings, Paul Young, Steve Duncan, Dillon Duncan, Tommy Mulqueeny,
Dan Turnage, and Robert Ledene.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Allison Wall, Dr. Edmund A. Miller, Jr., Staff of the Canon Hospice, the Mississippi Surge, the Mississippi Surge Booster Club.
