Rep. Ellis to speak at legislative breakfast tomorrow

February 2, 2013

West Point and Clay County citizens will have an opportunity to address District 37 State Representative Tyrone Ellis tomorrow morning at City Hall.
The West Point/Clay County Growth Alliance will be hosting a Legislative Breakfast, and Ellis is slated to attend.
It is an informal event, intended to allow Ellis and other representatives in the House and State Senate an opportunity to address current issues that affect Clay County and the region.
The State House of Representatives is currently in the middle of a three-month long session that has stirred controversy over issues ranging from social programs to education.
Ellis recently voted against a Charter Schools bill which passed the House last week.
Ellis is expected to speak to that issue and others during the breakfast.
A businessman, real estate developer, consultant and pastor, Ellis took office in the House in 1980 and has served since that date.
Ellis has traveled both nationally and internationally as a pastor, and he has also traveled to Eastern Europe and Nigeria as a consultant and trainer.
Ellis is affiliated with the NAACP, Habitat for Humanities, the Starkville-Oktibbeha County Boys and Girls Club, and he is a former member of the Oktibbeha County School Board.
Along with his wife Arella Rena, the two have two children, Stephen Tyroin and Stephanie Renee.
This installment of the series of Legislative Breakfast events put on by the Growth Alliance will start at 7:30 a.m.
